Working in Harmony to Transform a Continent

Africa is a continent of immense and largely untapped resources. It is true that colonialists picked some of the low-hanging fruit, but those years are long gone. We can be assured they did not touch even 5% of the richness with which God has endowned Africa. Today, our huge challenge is to unleash more and more of the power of Africa's divinely-given endowments.

WATS Leadership

WATS Leadership: West Africa Theological Seminary is the largest non-denominational seminary in Nigeria. In a typical year there are well more than 100 denominations represented among its students, drawing from a wide range of evangelical, Pentecostal and Aladura churches. It is guided by a Board of Trustees and a Governing Council, representing a host of men and women of high integrity and professional qualifications. The mostvisible leaders, apart from the WATS Founder, include:

Pastor Dr. Emmanuel Oluwayemi, Chairman of the WATS Governing Council. Dr. Oluwayemi has a thirty-year history with WATS, beginning as an undergraduate student. He later completed Masters studies in Kenya, and a PhD from Trinity International University in the USA. He has served on staff at WATS as a teacher and Academic Dean. Today he is the Deputy General Overseer of the Gospel Faith Mission International, with thousands of congregations inside and outside of Nigeria.

Pastor Olufemi Martins, Provost. Pastor Martins hold a Master of Divinity degree from WATS. He is a DMin candidate at Asbury Theological Seminary, Kentucky, USA. He has served WATS in various capacities, including as Director of Development. In 2021 he is in the third year of his five-yea r tenure as WATS provost.
Pastor Olufemi Martins
Dr. Peter Ozodo, Chairman of the WATS Transition Committee. Dr. Ozodo's task is to oversee the transition of WATS from Ipaja, Lagos to Imala, Ogun State, over the next few years. He is known most widely in Nigeria as the co-founder and long-time international director of Calvary Ministries (aka, CAPRO)—the largest non-denominational missionary-sending agency in Africa, with 800+ missionaries inside and outside of Africa. His history with WATS goes back twenty-five years, having served as a governor, chairman of the Governing Council, and provost. In 2021 he concludes a multi-year term as a "reverse missionary" in Morecambe, England.
